For cleaning enthusiasts and techno geeks alike, I’m proud to present a small commentary on our most valuable flat possession, the Dyson (I think I’ll call him Spock).
Dyson have been at the forefront of Vacuum technology, mainly for their futuristic designs, bag-less cyclone suction and anti-bacterial HEPA filters. I remember the family’s first Dyson ten years ago, when I had a shocking dress sense (and the photos to prove it). A decade on (hopefully with a more refined dress sense) the Dyson is back, with great technological advances… or maybe not?
We went for the Dyson dc08. At £150.00, quite a reasonable sale price considering the branding we were paying for. Branding sells buckets.
My initial thoughts on Spock, was that albeit he was a thing of great beauty and a strong history, the handling of Spock was clunky especially with the pipe and attachments. Not a lot has changed from ten years ago, suction is a little better (I remember the older model having very average power). Not sure why, but when you detach the main pipe you cannot insert the attachment into the handle, but rather, you have to use the full extended pipe to use any of the three attachments. Plus they slot in rather awkwardly – I guess this is my biggest gripe considering the investment. The washable filters are a huge plus however, no extra costs in replacing expensive parts! Okay I was going to keep this short, since I’m writing about a vacuum cleaner… go the Spock!

It’s part of the template I use, not sure if it’s new or not foo. Looks like a little bit of CSS magic! Just for you, I’ve tracked it down:
input:hover, textarea:hover {
background:#ffc;
cursor:text;
}
This makes all input fields and textarea’s turn to #ffc on hover. Nice. This is not supported in IE6, however. Boo IE.
