Part I: Snow, big dumps?
Yes! I’m eagerly awaiting my upcoming snowboarding trip – it’ll be a blast! I’ve done my research and annoyed everyone I know that’s experienced and loved big dumps. Bizarrely enough, I’ve never experienced skiing or snowboarding before, despite once living close to a few snowy mountains… ah well, always the stubborn one!
The snow’s the limit… (to my credit card)
I’ve been accumulating my snow gear over the past few months, to spread the financial hit of taking up such a sport. Since I’m a nube, I’ve purchased low to mid range products at decent prices. I’m pretty happy with the results, prior to hitting the snow. Here’s the kit:
| Item | Cost (£) | Details | Purchased |
| Snowboard jacket | 85 (RRP: 120) | Helly Hansen, Unit | Online |
| Snowboard pants | 50 (RRP: 70) | Animal | Outlet centre |
| Goggles | 25 (RRP: 30) | Bolle, Sharkfin | Snow Expo |
| Gloves | 33 (RRP: 40) | DaKine, Scout | Online |
| Wrist guards | 20 | R.E.D | Online |
| Socks, 6 pairs | 14 | Decathlon | Shop |
| Tube scarf | 5 | Decathlon | Shop |
| Beanie | 6 | Quicksilver | Online |
So that’s a grand total of: £238 (!!!). Considering my jacket is quite universal, it’s not too bad. Plus the gear should last me a few more seasons – aye bro! I thought twice about spending £20 for a pair of wrist guards, but these R.E.D impact wrist guards (by Burton, modelled by myself) are comfy, sleek and look the part…
Other items I’ll be bringing:
- Deep Heat cream
- Sun cream (SPF 30)
- Moisturiser
- iPod and cans
- Spare socks
- Tube scarf
- Food and snacks
- Sports “day pack” (with water bladder)
- Cash
- Camera
